~The 3-day S.E.G.H.S. 26th Annual History Conference will be held at the Adobe Horseshoe Theatre this year on April 28-30
In addition to the Conference, S.E.G.H.S. will sponsor the first annual Rio Grande Festival. The 3-day International event that will feature an all-new reenactment of the Oņate Expedition's arrival and "La Toma" ~ the official 'Act of Possesion'ceremony, followed by a theatrical presentation of the 'Comedy' that Farfan presented that day! Don't miss the Grand Event, three days of art, music, history, culture and food! We will have a formal Festival Dinner, 'A Night on the Camino Real'~ hosted by the Honorary Consul of Spain, Martha Vera and the Sociedad Cultural de Espaņa. The Honorable Ambassador of Spain (ret) Miguel A. Fdez. de Mazarambroz, J.D., Ph.D, Nuria Sanz, Director of UNESCO, Mexico, Dr. Manuel Ramos Medina, Director of the Centro de Estudios de Historia de Mexico, Carlos Slim Foundation and Jesus Gonazlez Schmal, Coordinador General Auroridad del Centro Historico, Mexico City, Mexico, will be the special guests. It will be held at the Adobe Horseshoe Dinner Theatre on Friday night, April 28, 2017 at 7:00pm. Entertainment by OME a Mystical Narrated Concert. Tickets are available at the Los Portales Museum. Tickets are $75.00pp and special corporate tables are available. The Conference Luncheon will be on Saturday, April 29th at 1:30pm, tickets for the BBQ will be $20pp. Entertainment by Ballet Folklorico Awiratzi. For more information, contact Al Borrego.

~The S.E.G.H.S. 25th Annual History Conference will be held at the Adobe Horseshoe Theatre this year.
In addition to the Conference, S.E.G.H.S. will sponsor a 'History Booth' for the EP Mission Trail Associations Celebration. The booth will feature an 1857 Camel Camp, a live history demonstration, commemorating the arrival of 25 camels from the U.S. Army Camel Corps Experiment. Lt. EF Beale and the camels arrived at the Presidio de San Elizario in the summer of 1857 in route to California. Be sure to look at the information on the 'EVENTS' page.

~The Annual Museum Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015. Museum Volunteers will be honored at the event for their service, at Cattleman's Steakhouse in Fabens, Texas. Thank You Volunteers!

~The S.E.G.H.S. elected the new Board of Directors on Sunday December 7th.
President: Al Borrego, Vice-President: Harvey Johnson, Secretary: Emily Borrego, Treasurer: Magda Flores, Board Members: Transito Macias, Ray Borrego, Aurora Bustos.

~The S.E.G.H.S. will participate in the 'Border Museum Association's 2014 Scavenger Hunt', from May 17 - July 20, 2014.
All three Museums will participate. Check out the Scavenger Items related to 100, for UTEP's Centennial.

~The S.E.G.H.S. opened the third Museum in the San Elizario Historic District: The 'Old El Paso County Jail Museum', on April 17, 2014.
The museum will be staffed by volunteers and will be open Tue-Fri 10am-2pm, Sat 10am-4pm and Sun 12pm-4pm. The interpretive museum has received great reviews!

~The S.E.G.H.S. will participate with an information booth at the 'El Paso Heritage Tourism Summit', on March 22, 2014.
At the Judson F. Williams Convention Center in downtown El Paso.
Stop by and visit our exhibit with volunteers: Aurora Bustos, George Sanchez, Frank Moreno and Al Borrego from 8am to 3pm.

~The Sanchez Family talked about San Elizario History on the 'El Paso History Radio Show', on February 1, 2014.

~The Annual Museum Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was held on Sunday,
January 26, 2014. Ten Museum Volunteers were honored at the event for
their service, at Cattleman's Steakhouse in Fabens, Texas.

~S.E.G.H.S. has installed two signs on historic locations in the district. They are at Glorieta & Main and at the Portales Museum. A special thanks, to all the volunteers that made this happen.
